Knowing the Chakra

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine. Its energy is based in the earth element. It is associated with the functions of survival, grounding, safety, and support. It is responsible for self preservation and feeling secure. When your root chakra is blocked or unbalanced, you may feel nervous, insecure, and unsafe. If your root chakra is overactive, your attitude may turn to greed and paranoia. Color: Red Essential Oils: Cedar, Clove, Myrrh

The sacral chakra is located at the ovaries and testes. This chakra enhances our creativity and sexuality. It associates with our emotional body and our feelings. It's element is associated with the water element. It helps aid in relationships, and feeling the inner and outer world of the universe. Imbalance in this chakra can result in feeling stuck in the same mood or a certain feeling, and feeling like you are not in complete control of your emotions. You may be unable to properly handle certain emotions. Color: Orange Essential Oils: Sandalwood, Ylang-ylang 

The solar plexus chakra is located at the upper part of your belly near your diaphragm. It associates with the fire element. This chakra enhances independence, personality, confidence, and forming your own beliefs. It allows you to know yourself and your ability to set boundaries when needed. When this chakra is blocked, you may have a low self-esteem and be co-dependent on others. You also may have less self control. The solar plexus is also important for health reasons. It is associated with digestive health. When it is balanced, it can also aid in many health problems such as asthma, nerve pain and fibromyalgia, diabetes, and arthritis. Color: Yellow Essential Oils: Chamomile, Lemon 

 
The heart chakra is located at the heart near the lungs. It is an element of air. When balanced, this chakra helps aid in self love and love for others, relationships, being compassionate, empathy, and transformation for oneself. You may feel more connected to yourself and more self-aware. To keep this chakra balanced, it is important to take care of yourself mentally and physically. When there is a blockage in your heart chakra, you may feel that you don't relate with other people and may not get along in relationships. You may experience a lot of jealously and being withdrawn from the environment that surrounds you. Color: Green Essential Oils: Rose, Bergamot
 

The throat chakra is located at the thyroid gland. It relates to the element of sound. When balanced, this chakra can aid in expression, projecting, and sharing your ideas, communicating properly and healthily. It can strengthen your connection with different realms, especially the etheric realm. This chakra is all about expressing your true self and connecting you to spirit and higher self. It helps you be more open to ideas, including ones from higher spirits. This allows you to be more guided by spirit in everyday life. When it is imbalanced, you may have trouble keeping secrets, and have a hard time listening to and understanding others. You also may have a tendency to tell more lies. Color: Light Blue Essential Oils: Lavender, Sage, Neroli 

The third eye chakra is located at the forehead between the eyebrows and slightly above your nose bridge. This chakra is associated with each element, and is known as "supreme element." When balanced, this chakra can aid in proper vision, strengthening your intuition, psychic abilities, wisdom, inspiration, and perception. Awakening your third eye will help you sense energies easier. An imbalanced chakra will cause a lack of clarity, blockage from spirituality, and being cut off the greater picture. You may have trouble seeing past your problems. Color: Indigo Essential Oils: Jasmine, Vetiver, Rosemary
